this prayer is ever on my lips
as i subject to life's caprice,
as fraying flags in war's wind whip;
"Mother grant me patience and peace."

as fear away all facades strip
and fangs are flashed where once was fleece;
as tears and blood together drip,
Mother grant me patience and peace.

on to the next apocolypse;
this world's travails will never cease...
this prayer is ever on my lips:
"Mother grant me patience and peace."

a kyrielle [link] written for :iconprojectdfc: 2012 [link] .
please note, i came at the traditional 'lord have mercy' style refrain from a taoist's point of view so the 'Mother' being prayed to is the GREAT Mother, not mary.

your poem is lovely. It inspires an answer. (This is from the Christian perspective)

the heart of man will feint in fear
where the earth in bondage lies
in agony he sheds a tear
"Have mercy on us God" he cries

'Tis the nature of his lot
where lust and greed seek wrongful gain
and parish every loving thought
"Have mercy God" he cries in pain

While we looking on behold
self righteous men their goal obtain
caring not who bears their load
"have mercy God" we cry again.
